.SO EXCITED!.
Liam Finn AND Darker My Love???? And free??? You guys rock!
You guys should try to book the pomegranates
http://www.myspace.com/pomegranatesart
this line up sucks. you’ve had good bands like menomena, deerhunter, and john vandersliice before so whats up with these bands?
Well, we certainly can’t please everyone.
Sorry you feel that way!
thank you so much for adding dark meat, i really appreciate this venue/staff, thanks
o and fleet foxes would be huge
throw me the statue are suppose to tour us this fall? maybe they are playing billiken club?!? or you can get them too! still, really excited with the initial lineup of bands
I can’t say I’m not disappointed with this line up, but they’re free so I can’t really complain. :\
thanks so much for booking the felice bros/AA Bondy…ive been waiting for these guys to go out on tour with each other forever.
Can’t wait for the Felice Brothers…..saw them with The Drive-By Truckers and was a fan instantly….and for free…..thank you so much…
sacre vache! what a lineup. ya’ll are putting st. louis on the indie map. your best lineup yet. where in the world does all this money come from?
Thanks muchly, David and others who are showin’ the B Club some love.
We get our funding from the University, making it possible to give St. Louis tons of sweet FREE shows!
See you all in the Fall!
For all the details on these bands and when and where they are coming check out Metromix.com http://stlouis.metromix.com/
are you still booking? i vote for stephen malkmus and the jicks for november 1st; they have a space in their midwest tour. i’d go to columbia on the 2nd, but that’s the same night as magnolia electric co.
oh, and thanks for the lineup thus far. i cannot wait to see damien jurado again, excellent pick!
Love love love Centro-matic
How large is the venue? If too many people show up will the overflow crowd be turned away?
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkkkmeats. yEs!!
Doors open at 8pm and if you get there early enough. You won’t be turned away. Our venue capacity is 330 though. Hope to see you guys soon!
now, is there any way to keep the slu kids away? we saw bon iver in march and they pretty much ruined an amazing set. them and the overhead music from salsaritas that played through half the set.
Josh,
Since the Billiken Club is located on SLU’s campus, it would be unrealistic to “keep the SLU kids away” nor would we ever want to prohibit anyone from coming to our shows. We’re going to keep our concerts open to everyone, and we hope you come back and enjoy our awesome line-up!
In my experience the SLU kids are much more well-behaved than the Wash U kids. I will definitely see shows at the Billiken, but i am DONE with the Gargoyle because of the obnoxious kids (and the no alcohol), unless Sonic Youth plays there. Josh–maybe we’re just old.
I try to remember that I was younger once too and probably annoyed some older show-goers.
just something to consider…its sweet that you guys allow free shows open to the public and such.
But I feel like there is not as wide of a selection in the types of shows played at the billiken club. I mean, playing nothing but “obscure” indie bands [mind you I use 'obscure' loosely] gets kind of old. Especially when they all sound the same.
and I DO like indie music, but where is the hardcore? Where is the post hardcore? post punk? noise? experimental? thrash? grindcore? Why not try to expand the musical selection?
Hopefully you check out some of our upcoming shows, some of which we consider to be a little bit more than just “indie”:
9/18 Pattern Is Movement
9/20 Dark Meat
9/30 Awesome Color
10/16 Ponytail
10/25 Parts & Labor
Rad!
can you try and get “the shaky hands”? they are fantastical.
this is marvelous, just marvelous
dark meat WITH bunnygrunt
im speechless
“Whoever’s in charge of booking shows at your school should email my friend, Justin, at justinbridgewater@theagencygroup.com to set something up. Seriously, it’ll be awesome.”
Owen, aka Mike Kinsella, says he wants wants to play some college shows. Just throwing that out there.
dark meat was actually life changing
anything to be said about the dark meat show would disgrace what they did, it is inexplainable how moving, energetic, and spontaneous the show was, i still cant hear, thank you so much billiken club, and dark meat
Can’t freakn’ wait for Awesome Color. They stole the show from BYOP last year IMHO.
Great show last night…Thank you for booking AA Bondy & The Felice Brothers!
Hey! When’s Open Mic Night?
Can’t wait for Ponytail and Parts and Labor. Way to go with this lineup. I’d like to see some noisier stuff hit too, but Billiken Club is def stepping its proverbial game up this year.
Yea Big + Kid Static, babyyyy!!!!!!!
these guys are sooo super fra$$$h, big ups BC. keep showing new hip hop that loveydovey love!
Marnie Stern is going to be incredible!
I really thank the Billikin Club organizers and staff for great shows so far and a great lineup to come!
We’re just glad everyone is enjoying the shows. Thanks so much for coming out and supporting the billiken club!
Thanks for getting David Bazan!!!!
I go to Wash U and I wish we brought in acts like yours. Your venue is also worlds above our venue, The Gargoyle. its terrible.
Thank you for your site

have a great day and thank you again!
how does the open mic night work? when can people sign up to perform? do we need to bring equipment or is it supplied??
Sign ups will begin promptly at 7pm at the event! So arrive in a timely fashion to get a good slot!
We will have a sound guy and there should be three mics set up, but it will be your responsibility to bring the instruments, the amp and the talent!
See you tomorrow!
